More about Mayor Carr-Hurst:

In 2007, Mayor Hurst was elected to represent the City of Fairburn as its second African American female Councilwoman. She has been elected to three terms on the Fairburn City Council and served 10 years until she qualified to run for Mayor of Fairburn in 2017. She ran unopposed for the Mayor’s Office and was sworn in as the City’s 18th Mayor and its first African American female Mayor.

Mayor Hurst is a loyal volunteer of hospice care in various facilities in and around the Atlanta area. She serves on the National League of Cities Advisory Committee, Vice Chair of the National League of Cities Fellows. She holds a Diamond Cum Laude certificate from the National League of Cities, member of the National Board of Democratic Officers, National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, a Life member of the NAACP, Independent Marketing Director of Team National and a Life member of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society. She retired in 2012 from the State of Georgia. She most recently has been selected to serve as a 2018 member of the Georgia Municipal Association By-Laws Review Committee. She has also served as President or treasurer of her homeowners association for the past 12 years.

Mayor Hurst is the mother of two daughters, Dr. Kimberly Froelich and Rhonda Hurst. She is especially proud of her three grandchildren; Morgan, Raphael, and Christian.

Mayor Hurst was sworn in on January 8, 2018 by her Pastor, Glenda Smith and the bible was held by her granddaughter, Morgan. She was accompanied by her daughter Kimberly and son-in-law, Dr. Michael Froelich.
