Alaina Reaves is a lifelong resident of Clayton County and a product of Clayton County Public Schools. She is a veteran community organizer, and is passionate about building connections and engaging with the residents of District 1 and Clayton County.
After graduating with a degree in policy studies from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, Ms. Reaves launched her career in public policy in Washington, D.C. There she interned with the late Congressman John Lewis. She later interned with President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama at the White House. After leaving D.C., Alaina moved to Jacksonville, Florida to work in the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. There, she was able to combine her passion for civic engagement with economic and community development.
Currently, Alaina serves as Chair of the Clayton County MARTA Citizens Advisory Board, and previously served on the Urban Redevelopment Authority and Downtown Development Authority for the City of Morrow.
In addition to her role as Clayton County Commissioner, Alaina serves as the inaugural Georgia State Director for the State Innovation Exchange (SiX), bringing over a decade of political and southern organizing experience to support Georgia State Legislators under the Gold Dome.
Ms. Reaves pledges to use her skills and experience to enact smart, innovative policy, invest in the community, and improve the quality of life for the people of District 1. When not volunteering or serving her community, Alaina is reading the latest non-fiction, knitting, or cycling through the trails in Clayton County.
