Event Description:
Join the Council for Quality Growth's South Metro Advisory Committee Meeting featuring City of Douglasville City Manager, Marcia Hampton and Community Development Director, Patrice Williams. 

Marcia began her career with the City of Douglasville in 2003 and was appointed to the position of City Manager in 2015.
Marcia has earned many career and community accolades such as Leadership Douglas Class of 2009, one of the Top 10 Young Professionals in Douglas County in 2010 and Leadership Georgia Class of 2013. In 2018 Marcia was nominated as one of the Top 10 Women in Government by the National League of Women and Government.
Marcia’s professional volunteer efforts include serving as a member of the Legislative Policy Council with the Georgia Municipal Association and serves on their Work Force Development Advisory Committee. She is a trustee for the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefits Systems which is entrusted with over $1 billion in employee/employer insurance and benefits. She also is a member of the Georgia City County Manager’s Association and serves on the Executive Committee as the Vice President.
Marcia’s community involvement includes being an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is an active member of her church. She also serves as a board member of the Douglas County Chamber Foundation Board which serves to identify leaders in the community for the Leadership Douglas, Youth Leadership Douglas and the Foundation’s scholarship program.
She holds several professional certifications, has an MBA, is an International City County Manager Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager, and is a veteran of the United States Navy.

With a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Urban Policy Studies, Patrice R. Williams has worked in the public sector for over 20 years. She began her career at the Georgia State Capitol where she interned for both the House of Representatives and the Secretary of State’s Office.   
Her first job with the Senate Communications Office included writing speeches and press releases for all 56 state senators. While working for the Georgia Municipal Association and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, she gained firsthand knowledge of how policy directly impacts cities, counties and their citizenry.  As someone who has spent her entire career working for and building relationships with local government officials and state agencies, Patrice has been able to volunteer with other organizations and nonprofits to use her skills and resources to help them further their missions. 
As the Community Development Director for the City of Douglasville, Patrice has spent the past two years implementing new goals and initiatives that were created to help streamline the process and improve customer service. Patrice is originally from South Georgia.
