South Metro Advisory Committee with Khalfani Stephens, Director, Clayton Economic Development

Khalfani Stephens joined the Clayton County team as the Executive Director of the Development Authority in June 2018.  Under his leadership the development Authority has become more proactive in its development efforts and has begun new partnerships and outreach programs to ensure that all Clayton County residents and businesses participate in the fruits of the county’s economic revival.
 
Before joining the Development Authority of Clayton County, Mr. Stephens worked in the metropolitan Detroit area, where he had roles with local municipalities and the State Economic Development Agency.  In these roles Mr. Stephens was instrumental in the redevelopment of downtowns, attracting multinational firms, securing millions of dollars in state incentives and assisting many small and medium sized businesses in obtaining the human, physical and monetary resources needed to grow and prosper.
 
Committed to lifelong learning, Mr. Stephens is an alumnus of both the University of Michigan (BA) and Wayne State University (MBA and a Post Master’s Certificate). He is also a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) and Michigan Master Citizen Planner.  In addition to English, he speaks fluent French and conversational Spanish.
