Artie “AJ” Jones, III is a graduate of Valdosta State University, earning a Bachelors’ Degree of Political Science and a Master of Public Administration. Artie served for 6 years as Director of Community and Economic Development with the City of Brunswick, GA where he helped to secure key developments that have helped to shape Brunswick’s competitive edge in the coastal Georgia region. Jones was later selected as Director of Economic Development by the City of St. Marys and was instrumental in relocating Gilman Building Products, the largest producer of southern pine in the United States to the City of St. Marys GA. Gilman has over $1 billion in lumber sales annually.

The City of College Park appointed Artie as the new Economic Development Director and the Executive Director of the College Park Business and Industrial Development Authority in October 2013 after conducting a nationwide executive search. Since 2016, Artie has led the attraction of over $323 million of development in College Park and over 3,000 jobs. Some of those noteworthy projects include development of the Renaissance Hotel and Marriot AC, attraction of BMW’s Technical Training facility, development of several class A office buildings, and the opening of College Park’s Gateway Arena that serves as home to the Atlanta Dream and G-League affiliate for the Atlanta Hawks, the College Park Skyhawks.

Artie is currently leading several mixed-use developments in College Park; the largest, noteworthy development being Six West, a 320-acre mixed-use development estimated to value $1.5 - $2 billion at total buildout. This development is estimated to create a minimum of 2500 jobs and 3.5 million square feet of developed property over the next 12 - 15 years. AJ has served in numerous capacities for several civic organizations to include the 14 Black Men of Glynn, Inc., Board of Advisors for the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Chairman of the ATL Airport Chamber, and is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Artie is married with 2 adult children and 3 children at home. He enjoys weight training, coaching little league sports, podcasting, and spending time with family.
