Join the Council for Quality Growth's South Metro Advisory Committee Meeting with Erin Rodgers, East Point Economic Development

Erin Rodgers is an Economic Development Specialist with the City of East Point, specializing in film and the revitalization of the Downtown District.  Erin works with existing businesses, potential prospects, developers, film industry professionals, destination marketing organizations and community partners in the area to build and diversify the tax base for the City and increase the quality of life for the residents. Erin is an 18+ year resident of East Point and, prior to working for the City, served on the City’s council-appointed Main Street Board of Directors.  After almost 4 years of service on the board, Erin was hired by the City to work in the Department of Economic Development and has served in that department for almost 10 years. To date, Erin has initiated or enhanced a variety of programs and community building projects, including the creation of the DowntownEastPoint.com website and social media page, establishment of the Camera Ready Program for the City, creation of the Downtown Newsletter, creation of the Community E-Newsletter and co-founder of the East Point Farmer’s Market, East Point Food Truck Court and Friday Night Flicks outdoor movie series. Additionally, Erin helped write and manage the grants for the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) study and the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Multi-Modal Streetscape project. Thru a partnership with the City, Erin works with the East Point Main Street Association, a local non-profit, to additionally provide three community festivals in the Downtown District to further the placemaking initiatives.
 
Erin earned her architecture degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, along with her Minor in Business. Erin studied abroad in Florence, Italy at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute and has completed continuing education courses thru the University of Georgia’s Carl Vincent Institute of Government, The Georgia Academy for Economic Development, the National Development Council and Georgia Tech.  Prior to city government, Erin was in the design/construction industry for almost 9 years working on a variety of projects, including high-end multi-family, mixed-use urban developments, urban master planning, student housing and senior housing to name a few. Erin sits on the Board of Directors for the Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, as well years in the architecture as, the Board of Directors for The Main Street Academy (TMSA) charter school.
