Greg Botelho has been the City of Milton’s Communications Director since January 2020, a period in which the City experienced the build-out of its downtown, significant economic and population growth, and taken steps in its densest commercial and residential area in Deerfield and along Highway 9 (in addition to weathering the COVID-19 pandemic). In this role, Botelho works hand-in-hand on a daily basis with all City departments – including those involved in Community Development and Economic Development – giving him first-hand on all developments related to Milton’s present and future. He has prioritized promoting transparency, education, and engagement while fostering community.
Well before coming to Milton, Botelho grew up in a small town south of Boston. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard and, more importantly, met his future wife – who hailed from Sandy Springs, Georgia – there on move-in day of freshman year. Botelho spent about two decades working as a journalist, including as a sportswriter in Rhode Island, news editor at what was one of Massachusetts’ most well-read newspapers, and special projects producer and breaking news writer and editor at CNN.com. In between, he earned a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University. Botelho jumped at the chance to put that degree to good use and fulfill a lifelong dream of going into public service when he joined the City of Milton. He lives in Roswell with his wife, four school-age daughters and two dogs.
