Event Description:
Join the Council for Quality Growth's Henry Advisory Committee with SRTA Executive Director Chris Tomlinson.

Chris Tomlinson serves as the Executive Director for the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA). In this dual appointment, Mr. Tomlinson leads two state-level authorities whose mission is to connect people, jobs, and communities through preferred mobility options and innovative solutions.

SRTA manages the operation and collection of tolls on Georgia’s Express Lanes System and serves as the transportation financing arm of the state of Georgia. SRTA administers the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB), a revolving infrastructure investment fund that provides grants and loans to regional and local government entities to fund much needed local transportation projects. In 2017, SRTA combined with GRTA to jointly provide the services of both state authorities. Through this combination, SRTA also administers the Atlanta region’s vanpool program and manages the Xpress regional commuter bus transit service, providing metro-Atlanta workers with reliable, stress-free commutes to and from major employment centers in Downtown, Midtown, and Perimeter Center.

As Executive Director, Chris serves as primary liaison to the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) Public Private Partnership program. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), where he is Second Vice President.

Prior to being appointed Executive Director for both agencies, Chris served as Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel for SRTA. In this role, he was responsible for day-to-day operations and legal issue management. Prior to joining SRTA, Chris served as General Counsel for several state agencies, including the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Georgia Technology Authority and the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission, where he was also Deputy Director for the Construction Division.

Chris graduated cum laude from Morehouse College with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgia State University College of Law. He resides in Loganville with his wife, Lillian and their two children.
