Join the Council's Henry County Advisory Committee and Ronald Burckhalter

Ronald Burckhalter was promoted to the position of Public Works Director in November of 2017. In this new role, Ron is responsible for SPLOST, DOT, Water Quality and Pollution Prevention (Stormwater Management), and the Atlanta Speedway Airport. He served as the Capital Projects Director for Henry County SPLOST from December 2009 through November 2017. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Clemson University in 1978. Prior to coming to work for Henry County, Ron worked in the construction industry for over 34 years and held management positions for more than 30 of those years.
As the Public Works Director, Ron is responsible for establishing overall schedules and budgets; reviewing and analyzing plans and construction documents; confirming all development and environmental permitting is secured to ensure local, state and federal regulations are adhered to; ensuring that all projects are completed on-time and within authorized budget; reviewing technical decisions and recommendations made by assigned staff for quality assurance, general regulatory compliance and adherence to county ordinances, state and federal laws; ensuring that warranty issues are promptly addressed during appropriate warranty periods; ensuring that division-level accounting and financial reporting records are properly and correctly maintained; ensuring concerns raised by County residents are properly addressed in a timely manner
