Henry County Advisory Committee with Henry County Planning and Zoning Director Daunte Gibbs
Daunte’ Gibbs began his career with Henry County on March 3, 2014 as the Planning & Zoning Specialist and has since been promoted to his current position as the Director of Planning & Zoning. He attended and graduated from J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville, AL, in 1998, where he was a NASA SHARP student, a member of the national honor society and the recipient of the United States Army scholar athlete award. He graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in May 2002, where he was a USDA-NRCS 1890 Soil Science Scholar and Scholarship recipient. Daunte’ graduated from the University of Georgia with his Master of Science in Environmental Health in May 2004, where he was the recipient of a graduate research assistantship under the USDA National Alliance for Food Safety Project: Role of Nematodes in Pre-harvest Contamination of Fruits and Vegetables with Pathogenic Bacteria. He also attended Liberty University Online and graduated with his Master of Arts in Theological Studies in August 2012.
Daunte has been published four times, including a national soil survey, a thesis, a peer-reviewed science journal article in the National Journal for Applied and Environmental Microbiology, and a devotional cookbook. Daunte’ has more than 12 years of combined federal, local government and private sector experience related to Planning, Zoning, Development, Environmental Science, Environmental Health and GIS. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the Georgia Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Daunte’ Gibbs is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and is the second of three children to Stephen Gibbs, Jr. and the late Wanda Mae Davidson Gibbs. Daunte’ currently resides in McDonough, GA with his wife and two children.
