Mayor Edwards served as President of the Gwinnett Municipal Association in 2013 and is currently serving as the 2017 President as well. He is also a district officer for the Georgia Municipal Association and is the District 3 Northeast Regional President. Mayor Edwards has served as a board member on the Gwinnett County Transit Authority and the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Board. He has been committed to public education for many years and is an active member in both the Lanier and North Gwinnett school clusters. Connecting city hall to the seven Gwinnett County public schools located in the city is a daily priority of Mayor Edwards.

Steve is heavily involved in the community and truly loves Sugar Hill.  He truly represents the heart and soul of our city.  Under his leadership, the city has started to transform from a sleepy town into a destination city. He fully embraces the exciting growth and development and is extremely proud of the dynamic live, work, play community that Sugar Hill is becoming known for while maintaining its long-held commitment to family and community.
