Join the Council for Quality Growth's Forsyth Advisory Committee Meeting with Cumming Mayor Troy Brumbalow

Cumming Mayor Troy Brumbalow, who was elected Nov. 7, 2017 and sworn into office on Jan. 2, 2018, is a professional builder and business owner. His current businesses include: A construction company, which Brumbalow founded in 1993; Planet Tan and Beyond on Market Place Boulevard, founded in 2008; and American Cabinets, founded in 2017 with custom cabinet maker, John Naves. He also founded a softball bat company in 1996.
A resident of Cumming for the past 45 years, Brumbalow graduated from South Forsyth High School in 1990 as the school’s first class president and valedictorian. He attended Gainesville State College before founding his construction company.
Brumbalow married his high school sweetheart, Jodie, and they have two children: Zach, a graduate of Forsyth Central High and current student at Mercer University; and Riley, a student at Otwell Middle School.
Serving the community has always been important to Brumbalow. He volunteers in various helping hand food programs, and served as the sergeant at arms of the North Forsyth 400 Rotary Club.
One of his top goals for the City of Cumming in the long-term is bringing back the small-town, Southern charm of the downtown area through the creation of a walkable “city center” filled with shops and restaurants.
He also hopes to greatly increase use of the Cumming Fairgrounds by adding more community events throughout the year, including the recently announced “Fridays at the Fairgrounds,” which will begin April 20 and feature food trucks, live music and other family-friendly activities. Brumbalow also hopes to add a large-scale Christmas festival at the Fairgrounds that would begin with a parade through downtown Cumming.
In his short time as mayor, Brumbalow has already overseen development of a noise ordinance for the City and began the process of providing curbside recycling for City of Cumming residents, as well as bidding out several other contact services in hopes of saving the City money. In the area of Planning & Zoning, Brumbalow and Council recently approved an impact fee study, as well as a temporary building and development moratorium during the time the study is being completed.
