Commissioner R.J. (Pete) Amos was elected in 2010 to serve as the District 1 commissioner for the 2011-2014 term. He was re-elected in 2014 for the 2015-2018 term.

Commissioner Amos is a former member of the Forsyth County Planning Commission, and served as the commission’s chairman for six years. He has completed the Commissioners Training Program through the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).

Commissioner Amos is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration. He is a small business owner whose family has lived in north Georgia for generations. Commissioner Amos is a state licensed master plumber, state licensed building contractor, state licensed class IV water operator and state licensed GSWCC Level 1A.

He has served on the Cumming United Methodist Finance Board, has been a member of the Forsyth Rotary Club for over 20 years, and has served as treasurer and sergeant at arms for the Forsyth Rotary Club. His community involvement also includes serving for two years as president of Forsyth Central High School Football and Basketball Booster Club, and coaching youth football, baseball and basketball.
