Paul DeNard is the District Engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) District 7 / Metro Atlanta, serving Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, and Rockdale counties. He has served in that role since March 2021.
Paul provides leadership for several hundred District employees responsible for improving safety and mobility and managing roadway and bridge construction, maintenance, and operations on 1,700 interstate miles, 2,300 miles of state routes, and 611 bridges in six metro Atlanta counties.
Paul has served in several roles during his 17-year career at GDOT, including Traffic Design Engineer, State Traffic Operations Manager, and District Preconstruction Engineer. Paul was also selected by Chief Engineer Meg Pirkle to serve as Executive Assistant to the Chief Engineer.
Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Georgia and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).
