Shameka Reynolds is a life-long resident of Lithonia, Georgia. A graduate of Lithonia High School, Shameka attended Georgia Southern University and majored in Business Administration. After leaving Georgia Southern, Shameka was employed in corporate America for over a decade with Bellsouth. The granddaughter of noted entrepreneurs W.G. and Mrs. Ammer Reynolds, realizing her passion, Shemeka attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service where she was an active and dedicated member of the student council.

Shameka’s love and care for her community comes from generations of family members who were community activist and business owners. She is the great-great niece of Dr. Benjamin F. Anderson, one of the first African American dentists in Atlanta. He was the owner-operator of the Lithonia Speedway and Country Club. Shameka is the great-grand daughter of Mr. Samuel Reynolds who was the City of Lithonia’s maintenance operator and served his community for 40 years as the caretaker of the water works system.

Shameka has devoted her life to family and community service. To this end, she has served on the Lithonia City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem. In 2019, in a landslide victor Shameka was elected Mayor of the City of Lithonia. Today, she seeks innovative ways to progressively move Lithonia forward. Annually, she coordinates the Stop the Violence Initiative with Greater Travelers Rest (HOHA) along with the partnership of the Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association (GFSPA). A state member of GFSPA, Shameka is affiliated with the National Funeral Director’s and Mortician’s Association (NFDMA); the Georgia Funeral Directors Association; and, a member of the National Council of Negro Women Chapter of Dekalb County. Shameka is the past chair and presently a member of the National Funeral Director’s and Mortician’s Association Legislative Committee. Shameka is a 2017 recipient on the HOHA Living Legend Award and a 2019 recipient of the Professional of the Year Award from the Crystal Ball Foundation.

Currently, Shameka owns and operates Tri-Cities Funeral Home with her parents and her brother, Samuel Reynolds. Shameka is the mother of two intelligent and energetic young boys, Justin and Miles and a dedicated member of Greater Travelers Rest House of Hope under the leadership of Dr. E. Dewey Smith.
