Join the Council for Quality Growth's DeKalb Advisory Meeting on August 5, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. IN-PERSON at Druid Hills Country Club with Commissioner Steve Bradshaw, DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, District 4.

Steve Bradshaw was born in Charlotte, NC into a military family as his father spent a career in the US Navy. He was also born into a religious family as both of his grandfathers were pastors.
 
Upon his father’s retirement from military service in 1977 the family moved to Savannah, GA where Steve spent his formative years. He considers Savannah to be his hometown.
 
Upon graduating from Armstrong State College with a BA in 1986 Steve entered the US Army as a Second Lieutenant and was formally trained as a tank commander. Over a seven-year military career Steve served in various line and staff positions of increased responsibility including service in the Middle East during the First Persian Gulf War. The military taught him discipline, sacrifice and devotion to duty. He left the Army at the rank of Captain in 1993 to pursue opportunities in the private sector.
 
Steve has held several operations, business development and management positions of increased responsibility over several years with various organizations to include John Harland Company, Spherion, Briggs Equipment and Delta Global Staffing and subsidiary of Delta Airlines. The private sector taught him flexibility and the importance checking the numbers.
 
Steve received a master’s degree in Public Administration in 1998 from Georgia State University. After that he was invited to be an Adjunct Professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State where a taught various graduate and undergraduate level courses. Being in the classroom taught him patience.
 
For many years Steve has been engaged in the local community serving on various boards of directors to include The Giving Tree (An adoption resource agency), The Clarkston Community Center and Pride Rings in Stone Mountain (PRISM).  He also served on the State Water and Wastewater certification board appointed by Gov. Roy Barnes.
 
Steve has been married to his wife Diane for 34 years. They have lived in DeKalb County for 28 years. He enjoys reading, playing golf and watching professional football. His favorite team is the Pittsburg Steelers.
 
In November of 2016 Steve was elected to a seat on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and took office on January 1, 2017. Steve was re-elected to his seat in November of 2020 without opposition. Steve was also unanimously elected by his peers as Presiding Officer of the Board of Commissioners in January of 2020 and continues to serve in that role. He has discharged the duties of his office with diligence and integrity and feels honored to serve the citizens of District 4 and DeKalb County.
