Ollie Clemons
Mayor
City of Austell

Mayor Ollie Clemons is a proud husband of 26 years, father of five, and grandfather of six. He works hard, but also finds it extremely necessary for he and his staff to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Mayor Clemons has served as Head Elder, President of the 501(c)3 non-profit board for the Berean Outreach Ministry Center and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Berean Village, a senior retirement community. He has also been appointed to Chairman of The Lay Advisory Council of the South Atlantic Conference of Seventh Day Adventist.

Prior to City Council, Mayor Clemons served on the Variance Board, the Austell Community Collaborative, Austell Community Improvement Commission, and as Vice President of the Planning and Zoning Board. In 2013, Ollie Clemons was elected the first African American Councilman of At Large Post 1 in Austell. The following year, he was appointed to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. In June of 2019, he was sworn in as Acting Mayor when longtime mayor Joe Jerkins stepped down for health reasons. Shortly thereafter, Mayor Clemons ran to remain in office and won his election, which made him the city’s first new mayor in almost 30 years, and the first African American mayor of Austell.

Since 2018, Mayor Clemons lead the rejuvenation of the Threadmill Complex and City of Austell website. In addition to maintaining the city as both Mayor and City manager, he is working with City of Austell Directors to develop and maintain beautiful green spaces, as well as a vibrant downtown district.

Mayor Clemons has stated that he would like to ‘continue to make the City of Austell a destination where people want to come live, work and play.’  He is certainly doing his part to renew and re-energize the city to make that dream a reality.
