Join the Council for Quality Growth's Cherokee Advisory Committee Meeting featuring Dr. Brian Hightower, Superintendent, Cherokee County Schools. 
As Superintendent of Schools for the Cherokee County School District, Dr. Brian V. Hightower continues to take great pride in leading its 43,000 students and 5000 employees in “Educating the Emerging Generation.”  Most recently, Dr. Hightower was appointed  by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to serve on his Superintendents Advisory Council, honored for the fifth straight year to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Who’s Who” in Education and named as a finalist for Varsity Brand’s National Superintendent Award highlighting his leadership in effective community engagement.
 
 
As Superintendent of Schools for the Cherokee County School District, Dr. Brian V. Hightower continues to take great pride in leading its 43,000 students and 5000 employees in “Educating the Emerging Generation.”  Most recently, Dr. Hightower was honored for the fifth straight year to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Who’s Who” in Education and named as a finalist for a National Superintendent Award highlighting his leadership in the area of community engagement.
 
Having now served 34 years as a teacher and administrator, Dr. Hightower completed his fifth opening of school as Superintendent, with several notable initiatives for students and staff: 
 
Reopening schools in compliance with Governor Kemp’s directives and the Center for Disease Control’s guidance;
Initiating the Mountain Education Charter High School students in place of CCSD’s Polaris Evening School;
Bolstering the elementary and middle school rigorous curriculum designs and initiate the high school curriculum new rigorous curriculum designs; 
Extending school safety initiatives through the new alert systems installed in all CCSD high schools, as well as ACE Academy and Tippens Education Service Center
Expanding Social and Emotional Learning curriculums and mental health interventions for students and staff; and,
Opening the new instructional wing at Mill Creek MS while continuing construction projects at Sequoyah HS (Health Occupation Lab), Creekview HS (Agri-Science Lab), Woodstock MS (instructional wing) and Woodstock HS (auxiliary gymnasium).
 
Also, for the 2020-21 school year, Dr. Hightower will continue to serve on the State Superintendent’s Advisory Council and as Chairman for the Georgia Education Coalition, a lobby consortium of large and growing school districts in Georgia.  Dr. Hightower will also continue to serve as a National Research Fellow with the Educational Research and Design Institute and as a charter member of Leading Ed Solutions, a national coalition of Superintendents dedicated to researching and solving the biggest issues facing public education today.
