The Forum will consist of 50+ Planning Directors from the Metro Region who will come together, network, idea-exchange and hear from speakers and an interactive discussion with a panel of members in the development industry.

This will consist of Council staff and Council Members serving on a panel and will not be open to the public.

The idea of the 1st Forum was initiated by Marietta Planning Director Brian Binzer and a team of Planning Directors including:
  • Jeff Watkins, Cherokee County
  • Dana Johnson, Cobb County
  • Andrew Baker, DeKalb County
  • Tom Brown, Forsyth County
  • Bryan Lackey, Gwinnett County
  • James Shelby, City of Atlanta
  • Jon Davis, City of Norcross
The 2nd Forum will consist of an opening networking reception, a roundtable discussion with a facilitator to hear from you and your colleagues and allow you as Metro Region Planning Directors to share ideas and discover what other counties or cities are facing or have ideas that you may be facing or have and learn how other local governments handled critical issues that many of you face today.

A catered lunch will be served followed by a keynote speaker.

We will have copies of the Zoning and Land Use Law book available at the meeting as well.

Finally, the Council would like to obtain from you a list of topics that you all would be interested in discussing and hearing presentations on at the next Planning Directors Forum, which would occur in Spring 2014

Who is Invited?

The Forum will consist of Planning Directors from the Metro-Region.  At this time, it is open to planning directors only.
